We are committed to educating our Members about fees and charges and the options available to get the most from low cost banking.
Following are some guidelines to help you keep transaction fees low:
- If you do not need to withdraw cash, press the ‘credit’ button when making a purchase using your Visa Debit Card. This is an Unlimited Free Transaction and will not incur a fee.
- Instead of withdrawing cash multiple times within a week, try to withdraw enough cash in one transaction through a Commonwealth Bank ATM, Bank@Post or EFTPOS to meet your weekly needs. If you do not exceed eight Limited Free Transactions each month you will not incur a fee.
- Avoid using non-Commonwealth Bank ATM’s where possible, as these transactions are charged on a per use basis.
- Withdraw cash when making a purchase using EFTPOS instead of withdrawing later from an ATM. This means you will use only one Limited Free Transaction instead of two.
- If you exceed your eight Limited Free Transactions, use EFTPOS to dramatically reduce potential fees, as each EFTPOS transaction attracts a charge of only $0.30.
- Instead of drawing cheques, arrange for bills or other payments to be made electronically using BPAY or direct debit. These are Unlimited Free Transactions and will not incur a fee.
- Use Phone or Internet Banking services as often as possible.
These are Unlimited Free Transactions and will not incur a fee.
Our Visa Credit Card can be a convenient and beneficial way to make purchases and manage your finances:
- To make the most of your credit card you need to be disciplined and ensure where possible you pay the full balance by the due date to avoid interest charges.
- Use your Visa Credit Card for purchases.
- Avoid using your Visa Credit Card for cash advances.
