^9:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

How does SMS Security work?
Once you have registered, Victoria Teachers Credit Union will send a ‘one time password’ to your mobile phone. Simply enter the one time password within Internet Banking to complete your transaction.

Why has SMS Security been introduced?
Victoria Teachers Credit Union is committed to protecting the security and confidentiality of your personal information. The introduction of SMS Security is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our Members have peace of mind when banking online, by providing an additional level of protection against identity theft and online fraud. SMS Security means that even if your login ID and password fall into the wrong hands, your funds are still protected.

How does SMS Security protect me?
SMS Security requires an extra device (your mobile phone) to complete your authentication process. Adding a second factor (your mobile phone) as a requirement for authentication increases security well beyond the traditional login password approach because it requires the criminal to gain possession of both the password and your mobile phone to commit fraud.

When does the ‘one time password’ expire?
The ‘one time password’ can be used for only one authentication process. This password will not be accepted on second or following attempts. The ‘one time password’ will expire if you close or cancel the transaction or the Internet Banking session.

To avoid confusion, delete the message from your mobile phone when the ‘one time password’ has been successfully keyed into Internet Banking and accepted.

I do a lot of traveling, or find it difficult to get mobile coverage. How can I use SMS Security?
While in a mobile coverage area, you can add the payee or BPAY Biller prior to traveling. A ‘one time password’ is required to add a new payee and a new BPAY Biller, but future payments to these payees and BPAY Billers will not require an SMS.

You can also contact our Member Contact Centre on 1300 654 822 to activate a funds transfer password for a limited time while you are traveling. This will allow you to add new payee or BPAY Biller.

Will I be charged for using this new security feature?
No. Victoria Teachers Credit Union is providing the service free of charge to Members.

Does it cost me to receive a ‘one time password’?
No. Victoria Teachers Credit Union will not charge Members to receive a ‘one time password’. Members should check with their mobile phone provider to confirm whether or not they would be charged for receiving SMS, particularly when overseas.

I’m registered for onscreen-keypad or funds transfer password. Do I also need to register for SMS Security?
Victoria Teachers Credit Union recommends SMS Security for all Internet Banking users. SMS Security will provide you with a stronger authentication and more peace of mind. Your funds transfer password will be disabled when you login for the first time after this functionality is available. You can register for SMS Security at that time or contact the Member Contact Centre to reactivate the funds transfer password.

Can I add a new payee or new BPAY Biller using SMS Security while overseas?
Yes, you can send and receive SMS while overseas if your handset and SIM card allow global roaming and the country you are in operates via a compatible network. Please check with your mobile phone provider.

Can I use my international mobile number or international telecommunication service with SMS Security?
